I want to start learning trumpet?
Hey, I'm in Band, and I've had this great desire to learn the trumpet. I think it's a really beautiful instrument. But I have braces, so I was wondering how much harder it will be to play trumpet. I also have thick lips, and I've heard that that only makes it harder. I have no plans to give up on learning it, though. By the way, I play the flute. I was also wondering how expensive it will be. I was planning on renting a trumpet from my local music store. But how much would it be if I ever wanted to buy a trumpet? Also, I know that you need to buy various supplies for the trumpet such as a mouth piece, valve oil, etc. so how much would that cost, and what would all those supplies be?And last but not least, how long to suppose it would take me to play the trumpet fairly well? You know, just well enough to play in an intermediate band.I know that this is a lot to answer, sorry about that...

I feel like the only way I'm going to learn to improv on the trumpet is with a really good book, probably with a CD. I have played in my high school jazz band, but I want a book that really teaches improv methods like phrasing and technique and theory. What is the best book for this? Like the " Arban's" of trumpet improvisation?
Can someone help me with learning trumpet?
I'm first part trumpet in my high school band, but I despise marching band. I want to get into concert and orchestra music, but I feel like I'm not even close to the clarity and tone that good professional player has. I take my trumpet home after school and try to practice but how can I work specifically on perfect tone and clarity. Also, what are some good pieces to learn for beginners, and how can I work on dynamics. Thanks.

Ok,so,I joined an after school jazz band at my school and im gonna learn how to play trumpet. I know how to buzz my lips but I'm not sure if I'm buzzing my lips correctly because when I do,the sound stays the same,and I watched other videos on youtube and when people do it,the pitch is either higher or lower...so...im not sure if im doing it correctly?

I'm learning trumpet from a book and am having a certain problem...?
It's certainly quite hard to learn the Trumpet from a book, and once my salary comes through I'll be getting lessons, but right now I'd like to struggle on. After two weeks of patient practice, I can now play a fairly decent C. However, once I try to play D, as instructed, the note comes out as a horrible squeak, and however I try I can't steady it out. I've cleaned my instrument It's a Bach, so a pretty good brand and the valves are oiled. Is the problem similar to fret buzz on a guitar where I just have to practice further, or is there something more wrong?
Learning trumpet after learning trombone?
So as the title states, i have already started trombone. I have been playing it for about a year and am fairly good at it. But now i want to learn trumpet, so i tried it for two days. When i tried playing trombone again, i couldn't go to a partial i used to be able to get. high c or d i can't remember which the ones above the f on the ledger lines I'm just wondering if After playing trombone for 5 minutes and then playing the trumpet, i find it much harder to play than before i started playing the trombone after learning the trumpet. sorry about the run on sentences.... 1. is this normal?2. Is there anyway to stop this?Thanks for any help

I've played around with friends' Trumpets a little, and I can get a good tone, but not sure if I could control the sound good enough to actually PLAY it.
Could you learn trumpet with tutorials and a music book?
I've played the trombone for about 3 years and I'm advanced for my age. I was thinking about learning trumpet over the summer with only tutorials and a music book and the trumpet obviously . Not to become an expert, but just to get me started so my band teacher can give me more in depth lessons when I get back into school.Thanks

i'm learning trumpet and i'm very good at many instruments. but i'm looking at trying to make my trumpet playing as good as those. i made districts on flute this year. so any scales, techniques or suggestions to help me work on my playing level. thanks
