Getting back into playing the cornet/trumpet after many years?
I was just wondering whether or not to sell my old besson sovereign cornet as it's not been touched for years, and I feel inspired to get back into playing it I got it out and hmmm well I don't sound very good I used to be not bad at all about 4 years ago is this what happens?I can't even pitch some notes the wrong ones come out and everything it sounds a right crackly out of tune mess I don't know what the neighbours must think of me Plus, my lips are sore and keep slipping hmmm this isn't how I remember What happened and will I be able to play again? Any tips would be great Thanks
How to teach my sister cornet/trumpet?
I have started to teach my little sister who is 6 to play cornet. She is listening to me and she cant wait till her next lesson which i think is a good sign.i went over how to hold the instrument and how to sit etc and found her natural note c and by the end of the first lesson had her holding a c for 4 beats then rest for 4 reading from sheet music. we also did this without a cornet just clapping. What would you recommend the next step being? and how steady should i be taking the lessons?

ive been playing the cornet for about 6 years and every time i play i get a red ring round my lip because i use too much pressurei only just realised this and i really want to fix it because it would help improve my tonebut because i've been playing for quite a long time it's more difficult to fix because it's turned into a habitanyone got any ways of stopping using too much pressure?

So I need to teach a little kid a trumpet embouchure. He she has never played a brass instrument before. How should I go about this? It would be nice to have a step by step process. Please keep it simple, remember this is an 10 year old we're talking about.
